I can’t believe another amazing craft chocolate tasting year has past!  That means it’s time for the 2nd annual Dark Matters Craft Chocolate Awards.

I have only included bars I have purchased myself.  I’m also only including bars that I tried in 2017, so some of these bars might be new creations and some may be part of a maker’s permanent collection.

Akesson’s Single Plantation Chocolate Madagascar 43% White Chocolate Bar Review

Forget what you thought you knew about white chocolate because this Akesson’s Single Plantation Chocolate Madagascar Bejofo Plantation 43% White Chocolate bar is a game changer.  If you’re like me (and I know I am) I think vanilla, and tooth aching sweetness when I think of typical white chocolate.  Not so with this bar.  In fact, there isn’t even any vanilla in it for starters. White Chocolate Bar Reviews on Åkesson’s, Askinosie, WKND Chocolate, and Original Beans

When it comes to white chocolate things have definitely changed!  I’m talking single-origin, and first pressed cacao butter, not adding vanilla, and so on.

WKND Chocolate’s Turmeric of a Goat Thing is an inclusion bar with turmeric, etc, added.  However, when I mention what I “taste” in the other bars that is the expression of the cocoa butter, milk, sugar coming through, and not added ingredients.
